In cooperation with the Medical Staff, the Health System and Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Intern participates in programs and procedures designed to promote the appropriate, safe and effective use of medications for Thompson Health patients and residents. This role requires a willingness to learn, assume responsibility, and pursue excellence, while maintaining knowledge of accrediting and regulatory agency standards. The intern will actively guard the confidentiality of sensitive information and provide care appropriate to the age of the patient under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. The role involves providing professional services and support in distributive and clinical areas, including medication distribution, compounding, drug information, education, formulary management, adverse drug reactions, medication error prevention, nursing/pharmacy liaison, clinical computer applications, medication use evaluation, and medication reconciliation.
