About The Position

Learn to provide the best patient experience by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal regulations. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions while delivering a distinctive and welcoming customer experience. Learn and promote pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service best practices in preparation for a future pharmacist role. Under pharmacist supervision, assist with pharmacy practice, prescription processing and dispensing, patient care services within the state scope of practice, and pharmacy operations. Support customers, maintain inventory and department appearance, comply with company policies and the Pharmacy Code of Conduct, and complete required training and assigned tasks.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and patients, offer assistance with products and services, resolve customer issues, and answer questions.
Model customer service best practices and develop strong relationships with customers.
Learn from store and pharmacy team members, field leadership, and customers and patients.
Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision and in accordance with state, federal, and company policies.
Perform assigned prescription-entry, third-party processing, filling, and dispensing duties in accordance with Walgreens procedures.
Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers with patient care services within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns, including patient counseling and health services such as blood pressure checks and medication therapy management.
Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and follow company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
Follow the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
Register sales on the assigned cash register and collect and handle cash as required.
Help customers locate over-the-counter products when possible and handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
Assist with pharmacy inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for Rx drug shipment overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.
Help maintain the Pharmacy Department's supplies, cleanliness, neatness, and orderly appearance.
Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete required training, maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, and complete special assignments and other assigned tasks.
