About The Position
This per diem Pharmacy Intern position at Mount Sinai Queens involves filling orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a pharmacy supervisor or staff pharmacist. Duties include maintaining records of drugs, storing merchandise, monitoring stock levels, and cleaning equipment. The intern will also assist pharmacists with medication preparation and dispensing, mixing pharmaceutical preparations, filling prescription bottles, preparing labels, and preparing intravenous (IV) medications using sterile technique.
Requirements
- Enrolled in an accredited (ACPE) College of Pharmacy, end of 3 year or above.
- Pharmacy Intern Permit

- 1 year hospital pharmacy setting preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medication.
- Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules and prepares labels for bottles.
- Fills medications orders for individual patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Receives and stores incoming supplies.
- Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
- Prepares intravenous (IV) medication using sterile technique under the supervision of hospital pharmacists.
