About The Position

To perform CT Scan studies of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established standards and procedures. This role involves performing radiologic examinations on patients, utilizing appropriate techniques for quality diagnostic images, and conducting daily quality control checks on equipment. The technologist will also inject patients with radioactive material, maintain documentation, and perform quality control, quality assurance, and safety tests while adhering to radiation safety guidelines. Responsibilities include evaluating radiographs for technical acceptability and comfort working in an Emergency Department setting. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • NY State DOH License and registration certificate in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • 1 years minimum experience, including OR procedures and portables
  • Proficiency in Fluoroscopic / portable radiology / OR procedures
  • Knowledge of McKesson PACs and image cast Radiology Information systems (RIS)
  • Experience in digital & computed radiography

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiologic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with radiologic protocols.
  • Must be competent in routine diagnostic, operating room, and portables.
  • Utilize appropriate kV and mA techniques to insure quality diagnostic CT images.
  • Perform daily quality control calibration checks on all equipment to ensure it is calibrated and working properly before any patient study is performed.
  • Inject patients with radioactive material as per the physician’s order following the prescribed protocol.
  • Observe all department documentation policies by filling in all appropriate logs, manuals, charge documents, as well as, reporting equipment problems to comply with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform quality control, quality assurance and safety tests. Follow radiation safety guidelines to comply with ALARA principle.
  • Maintain and develop and retrieve patient films and electronic date for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Order patient-specific radiopharmaceutical doses 1-day prior to use.
  • Receive radiopharmaceutical on day of delivery and verify proper receipt as per policy and procedure. Verify activity level of the dose prior to administration.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability.
  • Be comfortable working in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
