About The Position

To perform CT Scan studies of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established standards and procedures. This role involves performing radiologic examinations on patients, operating CT equipment with appropriate techniques for quality images, and conducting daily quality control checks. The technologist will also be responsible for injecting patients with radioactive materials, maintaining documentation, performing quality assurance tests, adhering to radiation safety guidelines, and managing patient films and electronic data. Additionally, they will order and verify radiopharmaceutical doses and evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability. Comfort working in an Emergency Department setting is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • NY State DOH License and registration certificate in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • 1 years minimum experience, including OR procedures and portables
  • Proficiency in Fluoroscopic / portable radiology / OR procedures
  • Knowledge of McKesson PACs and image cast Radiology Information systems (RIS)
  • Experience in digital & computed radiography

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiologic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with radiologic protocols.
  • Perform routine diagnostic, operating room, and portable examinations.
  • Utilize appropriate kV and mA techniques to ensure quality diagnostic CT images.
  • Perform daily quality control calibration checks on all equipment.
  • Inject patients with radioactive material as per physician’s order following the prescribed protocol.
  • Observe all department documentation policies by filling in all appropriate logs, manuals, charge documents, and reporting equipment problems.
  • Perform quality control, quality assurance, and safety tests.
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines to comply with ALARA principle.
  • Maintain and develop and retrieve patient films and electronic date for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Order patient-specific radiopharmaceutical doses 1-day prior to use.
  • Receive radiopharmaceutical on day of delivery and verify proper receipt as per policy and procedure.
  • Verify activity level of the dose prior to administration.
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability.
  • Work in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
