About The Position

The Intake Coordinator is primarily responsible for timely clearance of new referrals. This role takes infusion therapy referrals, confirms intake documentation is complete and within Amerita’s scope of service, and coordinates insurance verification and authorizations before passing referrals to a pharmacist. The coordinator enters patient and insurance information, communicates referral status across departments, and informs patients and families about coverage and payment responsibilities while maintaining confidentiality. Amerita, an affiliate of BrightSpring Health Services, is a specialty infusion company providing complex pharmaceutical products and clinical services to patients outside the hospital. Its vision is to combine the administrative efficiencies of a large organization with the flexibility, responsiveness, and entrepreneurial spirit of a local provider.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED or equivalent required.
At least two years of experience collecting referral information in the healthcare market.
Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures.
Understanding of the scope of services Amerita can provide.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Take infusion therapy referrals from referral sources.
Ensure intake forms are complete, clear, and within Amerita’s scope of service.
Obtain authorizations and re-authorizations as required by payers.
Enter patient demographic, insurance, and authorization information into the computer system.
Communicate with other departments about referral status.
Notify patients and families about coverage and payment responsibilities.
Understand which insurance companies have active contracts with Amerita.
Ensure insurance verification is completed and authorization is in place before giving the referral to a pharmacist.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
