About The Position

Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy. Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. This role involves working with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies. The technician will handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment, and may assist in developing standard operating procedures. The role also includes preparing and affixing labels to prescription containers, assisting in training employees, and ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards. A key aspect is gaining a complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations and offering avenues to better serve them, while also reporting any medication errors to appropriate personnel. Responsibilities extend to ordering, checking-in, and stocking pharmacy supplies, maintaining the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area, and adhering to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician. The position also involves performing mail order call center duties, including data entry to prepare prescription orders, manually counting medication quantities, replenishing medication cells, and replacing empty medication cells with full ones for robots.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active.
  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

  • Strong leadership skills; ability to assist other members of the department.
  • Must have the ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, assisting in the preparation of accurate prescriptions.
  • Must be able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; interview counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information according to the HIPAA act.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred.
