About The Position

Supports the pharmacy staff in assisting customers and performing register transactions so that prescriptions can be sold. Contact the Pharmacist if the patient has questions. Provide translation from Spanish to English as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Develop rapport with patients and their families, community and other health care personnel.
  • Exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Be able to operate equipment such as computers, scan guns, tablet counters, and cash registers.
  • Work successfully both independently and within a team, shifting tasks, prioritizing tasks, problem solving, and completing work within a deadline.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, helpfulness, and a positive attitude.
  • Possess superior organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize, understand, and appreciate the value of cultural diversity and communicate medical information in plain language.
  • Demonstrate social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patients and staff.
  • Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community resources.
  • Hold current drivers’ license and reliable transportation.
  • Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a cashier/money handling role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cashiering duties for patients picking up prescriptions
  • Assist the patient with any questions or concerns and contact the Pharmacist when needed
  • Provide Spanish/English translation as needed
  • Adhere to safety practices to ensure quality care for patients
  • Help maintain pharmacy inventory through inventory control practices
  • Provide customer service by answering phone calls and assisting patients in person in a prompt and courteous manner
  • Triage and prioritize requests
  • Check for expiration dates of medications
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
