About The Position

The Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for purchasing pharmaceuticals, receiving and proper storage, medication recalls and returns, financial management of all medication accounts, and oversight of all controlled substances processes. This role involves ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and organizational standards related to pharmacy purchasing and inventory management.

Requirements

3 years pharmacy technician or purchasing experience
Computer knowledge including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Responsibilities

Purchase pharmaceuticals, blood derivative products, and related supplies in accordance with Fairview Policies and procedures.
Manage the receiving process in all appropriate pharmacy locations.
Process invoices, maintain related records, interdepartmental charges, and other miscellaneous records.
Oversee medication recalls, medication returns, medication waste processes, and required legal documentation.
Coordinate product returns and issue emergency purchase orders.
Purchase, store, and distribute all controlled substances, maintaining and overseeing required controlled substances records.
Ensure medication and supply storage sites within the pharmacy are maintained to assure product quality.
Construct and review purchasing management reports, taking appropriate actions to resolve variances.
Provide input and advise on the development of policies and procedures related to purchasing and controlled substances systems, and oversee their implementation.
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, The Joint Commission, and other standards, as well as related policies and procedures.
