About The Position

This role works within the Enterprise Pharmacy department, specifically focusing on the 340B Program Management. The Pharmacy Business Analyst is responsible for identifying, quantifying, and sourcing medications during critical shortages, as well as identifying and implementing drug utilization, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement initiatives. The position also involves supporting pharmacy automation and information technology upgrades, assisting with formulary database management, and providing analytical support to pharmacy management to improve patient care and fiscal responsibility. The analyst will communicate with internal and external stakeholders, produce accurate and timely reports, synthesize data, and create visualizations. A key aspect of the role is serving as a pharmacy analyst resource for various Advocate Health locations and specific to 340B, ensuring compliance with the 340B Drug Discount Program through audits and maintaining inventory accumulators. For Pharmacy Business Office Analysts, responsibilities include assisting with period-end accounting close processes and producing data reports for accounting entries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and communication skills (oral and written, group, and one-on-one).
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical methods, data analysis and presentation.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities, and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated ability for analysis, logical thinking, accuracy and concern for detail, and the ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and to function as a team member when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 340B Apexus Certified Expert (ACE) designation
  • Prefer 340B experience.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in business operations, analytics, and/or purchasing systems/Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Works with pharmacy supply chain managers, pharmacy operations, and drug use policy staff to identify, quantify, and source medications on critical shortage.
  • Identifies, implements, and/or documents the financial impact of drug utilization, drug cost reduction initiatives, and revenue enhancement initiatives.
  • Participates with and assists pharmacy automation and information technology upgrades to manage and maintain formulary database and informatics.
  • Supports the system pharmacy department management team to formulate ideas, analyze problems, and develop and implement solutions to improve patient care and promote fiscal responsibility.
  • Effectively communicates with teammates throughout the Advocate system and externally to gather necessary information for conducting analysis and making informed and appropriate recommendations.
  • Produces reports and analyses, ensuring output is accurate and timely.
  • Synthesizes large volumes of data and draws summary conclusions.
  • Creates graphic visualizations to effectively communicate conclusions to a broad audience.
  • Serves as a pharmacy analyst resource in the specialized area to relevant Advocate teammates located in hospitals, clinics, retail pharmacies, and home infusion.
  • Ensures compliance with the 340B Drug Discount Program through an audit process.
  • Using specialized software, maintains the inventory accumulators that allow Advocate Health’s disproportionate share hospitals, eligible hospital outpatient clinics, and contract pharmacies to access the 340B Drug Discount Program.
  • Assists with period-end accounting close processes.
  • Produces data reports to support accounting entries.
