CareRx is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team in supporting a group of LTC Homes and Retirement Communities. The Pharmacy support staff play an important role in the quality and safety of our medications. They assist in the preparation, packaging and organization of the medication deliveries, which requires an exceptional attention to detail. Their support to the Pharmacists and Technicians is essential to maintaining our quality standards.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant and an excellent working knowledge of the automated packaging machines
  • Ability to direct and work well with other pharmacy team members
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and changes in priorities
  • Ability to communicate using different styles and methods to suit individual coworkers
  • Ability to set clear and specific goals and objectives and create plans to achieve them
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy calculations
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity appropriate for handling strip packs, prescription bottles and labels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, able to maintain a professional demeanor when speaking with clientele. Remains calm under pressure and is able to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service experience; strong motivation to succeed
  • Possess a positive, cooperative and team-oriented attitude
  • Experience with KROLL

Responsibilities

  • Operate automated packaging machines as required
  • Arrange for and complete preventative maintenance for machines; contact appropriate service provider as required
  • Responsible for maintaining /monitoring levels of government stock medication and machine consumables (e.g. ribbon, paper, canister, etc.)
  • Maintain the medication database for all packaging machines
  • Troubleshoot both mechanical and software issues of the packaging and inspection machines.
  • Ensure workflow is efficient and that management is informed if process/personnel changes /adjustments are required
  • Responsible for applicable inventory related reports, when required
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards
