About The Position

Pharmasave #260 (Westhill) is looking for a part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Nanaimo, British Columbia. This is a part-time, three-month term position with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent. The store operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Shifts will typically be scheduled within these hours. Candidates should be flexible and available to work daytime, afternoon, and weekend shifts as needed. Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
  • Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
