About The Position

Fraser Canyon Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Hope, British Columbia. This is a two-month term position with the potential for extension or to become permanent. The role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing customer interactions, and handling prescription-related tasks. The Pharmacy Assistant will also be responsible for inventory management, maintaining pharmacy cleanliness, performing clerical duties, and assisting with daily operations.

• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
