Pharmacy Assistant
About The Position
TMC Pharmacy is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Windsor, Ontario. This role supports pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant will greet customers, answer phone calls, and assist with prescription entry, labeling, and packaging under supervision. Responsibilities include accurately counting, measuring, and packaging medications, receiving and stocking inventory, maintaining pharmacy cleanliness, and safely disposing of waste. Clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, assisting with insurance claims, and prescription transfers are also part of the role. The position involves assisting with daily pharmacy operations and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
- Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
- Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
- Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
- Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
- Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
- Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
