About The Position

ChristianaCare's Mail Order Pharmacy Department is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team. This position is scheduled for day shift hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekend or holiday requirements. The Pharmacy Team dispenses approximately 6,200,000 individualized patient doses per year, as well as 170,000 retail/mail order prescriptions, ensuring medications are safe and efficacious. Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in receiving and putting away boxes
  • Some experience in preparing items to be shipped
  • Some experience in using a computer
  • Some experience in customer service answering/making phone calls
  • Some experience in operating a point-of-sale system & collecting electronic payments

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing timely, efficient, cost-effective, and appropriate pharmaceutical care.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including removing trash to appropriate receptacles.
  • Break down pallets of shipping supplies, store them, and restock pharmacy shipping stations.
  • Complete assignments in the shipping workflow under supervision, following standard operating procedures for medication deliveries.
  • Meet courier afternoon deadlines for timely medication delivery to patients.
  • Make or answer telephone calls according to ChristianaCare standards and greet patients and Caregivers courteously.
  • Securely collect credit payment information from customers and protect private cardholder information.
  • Enter patient payment information into pharmacy point-of-sale systems.
  • Make credit card adjustments for refunds or overcharges when appropriate.
  • Ensure a favorable patient experience related to payment information and accurate shipping addresses.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Maintain low error rates at point-of-sale and shipping software workstations.
  • Complete mandatory education and assigned competencies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Recommend ideas for improvement of methods and procedures to promote efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental rules and practices.
  • Report unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or violations to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned for emergency or operational reasons.
