The Pharmacy Assistant role involves supporting pharmacists in the preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications, maintaining accurate records, and delivering exceptional customer service. This position ensures the smooth operation of the pharmacy through attention to detail, administrative accuracy, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant Diploma or certification from an accredited institution.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication handling, and dispensing procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1–2 years of pharmacy experience in a retail, compounding, or clinic-based setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing, data entry, and labeling in accordance with regulations
  • Accurately prepare, package, and organize medications under the supervision of the pharmacist.
  • Maintain inventory by receiving, ordering, and stocking pharmaceuticals and pharmacy supplies.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and monitoring of medications and controlled substances.
  • Greet and assist patients in a professional manner, responding to general inquiries and coordinating refills.
  • Manage point-of-sale transactions and insurance billing processes as required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Support the pharmacist with administrative tasks, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Help maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards within the pharmacy environment.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
