About The Position

Lovell Drugs Grandview is seeking a Full-Time Pharmacy Assistant to join their team in Oshawa, Ontario. This role involves supporting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care. The position requires greeting customers, handling phone calls, assisting with prescription processing (entering, labelling, packaging), accurately counting and packaging medications, managing inventory (receiving, stocking, monitoring, rotating, auditing), maintaining a clean pharmacy area, safely disposing of waste, and performing clerical tasks. The successful candidate will also assist with daily pharmacy operations and other assigned duties. Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is considered an asset.
  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
  • Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
