About The Position
DrugSmart Pharmacy Queens is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Kingston, Ontario. This role involves supporting pharmacists and technicians in providing high-quality patient care, managing prescription entry and packaging, handling inventory, maintaining the pharmacy's cleanliness, performing clerical tasks, and assisting with daily operations. The position requires a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a retail pharmacy setting and proficiency with Kroll software.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
- Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
- Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
- Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
- Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
- Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
