About The Position

Saskatoon Co-op is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to join their team at Stonebridge Pharmacy #123 in Saskatoon, SK. This part-time position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and involves assisting with prescription filling, maintaining department appearance, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The role requires adherence to government regulations and company policies regarding drug control, safekeeping, and sales. The Pharmacy Assistant will also be involved in customer service, inventory management, and general housekeeping duties within the pharmacy department.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy intern registered with the provincial college, or a current Pharmacy Assistant Certificate, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Strongly service-oriented and motivated.
  • Capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Availability on mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in filling prescriptions under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Abide by government regulations and Saskatoon Co-op's policies regarding the control, safekeeping, and sale of drugs, including return and/or disposal of outdated dispensary stock, under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain the general appearance of the department.
  • Be familiar with all merchandise carried in the department, general pharmacy merchandise, and new products in the pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy industry.
  • Assist with checking and adjusting customer complaints within established policies, deferring to the immediate supervisor as required.
  • Assist with inventory movement (receiving and selling), including ordering prescription pharmaceutical products and "over-the-counter" merchandise, under a pharmacist's supervision.
  • Be aware of and informed about Saskatoon Co-op contracts, policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Assist the immediate superior in preparing reports, compiling statistics, and processing invoices, if required.
  • Place claims against suppliers and carriers of Saskatoon Co-op merchandise when required.
  • Be familiar with and assist with current merchandising and signing policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and caring service to customers to promote good member/customer relations and sales.
  • Provide information, assistance, and service to customers in a manner that promotes merchandise sales and meets consumer needs.
  • Promote the sale of Co-op label merchandise when appropriate.
  • Assist in the safekeeping of all cash handled in the department when required.
  • Maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
