About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy and Manager of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Assistant supports the drug distribution services of Pharmacy Departments in the region through the performance of technical and clerical functions. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Requirements

Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards required.
Basic computer experience is required including typing skills (minimum 40wpm).
Demonstrated ability to perform basic math and accounting skills.
Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.
Demonstrated ability of good interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
Good work and attendance record.
Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
Adhere to all safety and health regulations and safe work practices.
Completes and maintains Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
Complete diploma in Pharmacy assistant (Preference).
Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Supports the drug distribution services of Pharmacy Departments in the region through the performance of technical and clerical functions.
Maintains current knowledge of the Hospital Disaster and Contingency Plans and the requirements of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Workplace Health and Safety.
May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
