About The Position

The Pharmacy Analyst coordinates and provides analytical support related to financial, operational, and/or compliance needs relating to the Department of Pharmacy. This role may participate in, lead, or oversee special projects as assigned by departmental leadership. The analyst is responsible for maintaining a baseline level of knowledge for the department on workflows and specific pharmacy-focused programs, which may include 340b rules and regulations, contracting, and licensing. The position may also be required to support existing and/or expansion of business opportunities as they relate to the Department of Pharmacy’s operations and will work with outside vendors and consultants as required.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity and capabilities to export and utilize data from queries, forms, reports and macros.
  • Bachelor's degree in health care or business administration.
  • Years of experience required in health care operations and/or analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification (CPhT).
  • 5 years of experience in health care operations and/or analysis.
  • Experience in pharmacy-related health care administration (e.g., 340B, regulatory compliance) and/or analysis.
  • Maryland Technician Registration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides analytical support related to financial, operational, and/or compliance needs for the Department of Pharmacy.
  • Participates in, leads, or oversees special projects as assigned by departmental leadership.
  • Maintains a baseline level of knowledge for the department on workflows and specific pharmacy-focused programs (e.g., 340b rules and regulations, contracting, licensing).
  • Supports existing and/or expansion of business opportunities related to the Department of Pharmacy’s operations.
  • Works with outside vendors and consultants as required.
  • Reviews and analyzes data to identify discrepancies in compliance within areas such as 340B, controlled and non-controlled medications, licensing, financial reporting, insurance contracting, and Drug Chain Supply Act.
  • Investigates discrepancies to ensure resolution and escalation to appropriate leadership and governing bodies.
  • Identifies opportunities for operational, financial, or compliance improvements through analysis.
  • Performs financial and operational analysis for various areas including controlled substances, licensing, invoicing, procurement, contracting, forecasting, and clinical support.
  • Monitors compliance with federal and state laws and department/hospital policies and procedures related to 340B, controlled/non-controlled medications, and other financial/operational objectives.
  • Performs and submits audits, reports, and/or invoices upon request to department/hospital leadership and/or accounts payable.
  • Manages vendors and/or their databases to ensure data integrity, reporting, and analysis.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
