About The Position

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility. The Pharmacist demonstrates expertise in clinical pharmacy practice and serves as a resource in providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting. The role supports safe, accurate medication use and collaborates with practitioners and pharmacy personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Current pharmacist license in South Carolina.

Nice To Haves

• Pharm.D. degree.
• 1–3 years of hospital experience preferred.
• Pyxis experience and knowledge of Pyxis reports.

Responsibilities

• Interpret verbal and written medication orders and accurately transcribe them to computerized patient medication profiles.
• Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy patient medication profiles.
• Keep current with developments in pharmacy and health care related to job responsibilities and incorporate them into practice.
• Support the pharmacy’s pharmacoeconomic efforts and review targeted medication use for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs.
• Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, drug-drug and drug-food interactions, allergies, adverse reactions, appropriateness of the drug, dosage form, regimen and route, and therapeutic duplications.
• Assist with pharmacokinetic consultations and drug-dosing regimens according to hospital protocol.
• Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and suggest appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
• Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel, verify pharmacy technicians’ daily activities, and verify the accuracy of orders, IV admixtures, and chemotherapy prepared by technicians.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
