About The Position

The Pharmacist will perform professional and clinical duties in the dispensing of medications to patients and clinic. The Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a clinic pharmacy, supervising pharmacy technicians and coordinating with the Pharmacy Manager. This is a per diem position, as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent Communication Skills, ability to successfully interact with patients, family members, and staff.
  • Ability to use electronic health records and pharmacy management software, interact collaboratively with medical care team and other staff members. collect data and participate in relevant reporting processes.
  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and unrestricted California pharmacist license.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification
  • Previous high volume retail pharmacy experience.
  • Acceptable driving record, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, fills, and verifies prescriptions as ordered by physicians and other authorized personnel as provided for by California Law and provide consults to patient as applicable.
  • Stores and preserves medications and vaccines as appropriate.
  • Checks incoming shipments of pharmacy supplies and medications and arranges for their storage.
  • Charges 3rd party payer for dispensed medications.
  • Removal of outdated drugs from the pharmacy and clinic stocks.
  • Distribution of clinic stock supplies of medications.
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of pharmacy technicians in the functions detailed above, as well as other duties as described in the job functions of the pharmacy technicians and as allowed by California Law.
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of the pharmacy clerks in the functions as outlined in the job description of the pharmacy clerks as allowed by California Law.
  • Participates in in-service training (includes both presentation of in-services and attendance at the presentation of others providing in-services).
  • Provide drug information to clinic personnel and medical staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Complies with 340B regulations and operating procedures.
  • Assists in 340B Compliance Tasks and Audits.
  • Provides consultation, training, and education to patients about drug therapy disease management and disease prevention.
  • Provides professional information and participates in multidiscipline review of patient progress.
  • Administers immunizations pursuant to a protocol, orders and interprets tests for monitoring and managing efficacy and toxicity of drug therapies.
  • Assists in State Board of Pharmacy Inspections or any other audits or inspections.
  • Perform other duties as needed and directed by clinic administrator, Pharmacy Manager and VP & CMO.
