About The Position

The Pharmacist works at Synchrony Pharmacy, a long-term care pharmacy serving senior living communities. The role focuses on medication quality, accuracy, and patient care, including preparing and dispensing medications, overseeing pharmacy operations and technicians, reviewing medication safety, and providing pharmacological information and counseling. The position requires maintaining applicable licenses and certifications in good standing and complying with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Minimal travel, including overnight stays, may be necessary.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX).
Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Exam (MPJE).
State-specific license where required.
Exemplary computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
Maintain required licenses or certifications in good standing with the State.

Nice To Haves

Five years of experience in a pharmacy environment preferred.
Experience in healthcare, senior living, or a long-term care environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and assist with medication preparation by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
Dispense medications and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals in accordance with policies and legal requirements.
Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
Maintain pharmacy records, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, and records for narcotics or controlled drugs.
Monitor drug therapies and advise on interventions.
Organize and direct technicians’ workflow; verify medication preparation, labeling, and order entries.
Manage pharmacy workflow, which may include pharmacist verification, labeling and packaging, barcode-based quality assurance, drug-image verification, and barcode tote checks for delivery.
Use computer systems to screen for drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, drug-disease contradictions, allergies, geriatric and drug-food precautions, and adult minimum and maximum dose concerns.
Answer pharmacological questions from healthcare professionals and counsel patients on drug therapies.
Develop staff pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs and training pharmacy staff, interns, residents, and healthcare professionals.
Comply with state and federal drug laws and applicable State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and FDA requirements; monitor unit inspections, maintain controlled-substance records, remove outdated or damaged drugs, and follow drug-disposal guidelines.
Protect patients and technicians by following infection-control protocols.
Meet position expectations of excellence and support campuses, departmental goals, and overall company objectives.
Comply with laws, regulations, ethical standards, and company policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
Perform job duties with a friendly, positive, and team-oriented approach.
Maintain required licenses and certifications in good standing with the State.
