About The Position

The Pharmacist is responsible for the procurement, storage, and dispensing of all medications and biologicals within the facility. This role ensures that all pharmaceutical services are delivered in strict compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as facility policies. The Pharmacist works closely with medical and nursing staff to provide high-quality care within an addiction treatment environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph.) currently licensed to practice under the laws of the State of Alabama.
  • Must maintain all current licenses and certifications.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the field of addictions treatment
  • If in recovery, must have three (3) years of continuous, verifiable sobriety.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and a high level of proficiency in record-keeping.
  • Must be able to see 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aids are acceptable).
  • Must be able to sit continuously for 2 to 3 hours per 8-hour shift.
  • Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning effectively under stressful situations.
  • Must maintain a constant state of alertness to perform the job safely.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor, coherent and articulate speech, and a neat appearance.
  • Must be alert and responsive to patient needs without signs of impairment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain methods and procedures for pharmaceutical services.
  • Oversee the proper procurement, storage, and control of all medications.
  • Review and initial medication order forms; prepare and dispense medications as prescribed by Staff Physicians in accordance with professional standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all laws governing the practice of pharmacy and controlled substances.
  • Adhere to 42 CFR Part 2 (Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
  • Ensure the security and accountability of all medications, including emergency kits.
  • Inspect and restock expired medications and conduct monthly inspections of storage areas.
  • Conduct medication usage and chart reviews; assist in corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide in-service training to staff regarding medication administration.
  • Work cooperatively with nursing staff, managers, and clients to ensure seamless pharmaceutical services.
