About The Position

The Pharmacist interprets, fills and dispenses medications; provides patient education material and other pharmaceutical supplies following standard procedures and guidelines to fill prescriptions. He/She uses pharmaceutical expertise for all ages of patients; assists in maintaining and routinely inspecting an adequate, secure and properly stored stock of medications and supplies; performs therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM); and, Sub Acute Care functions. The Pharmacist performs other clinical and non-clinical duties as required. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education required.
  • Must be currently licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Controlled substance registration required.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.).
  • Knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assume responsibility for a variety of functions and work with the realization that errors may have serious consequences to patient care.
  • Team player and be able provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.
  • Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.

  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
