About The Position

The Pharmacist fulfills customers’ prescription needs and provides accurate dispensing, patient counseling, pharmaceutical care, and vaccines as needed. The role is responsible for pharmacy compliance with applicable laws and company policies, including HIPAA, and for maintaining a professional, safe, clean, and organized pharmacy environment. The Pharmacist oversees department activities, inventory, records, security, equipment, and staffing practices, while supporting customer service and department sales and profit goals. The position also requires continued development of pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

One year of retail experience.
Ability to speak, read, and/or write a second language.

Responsibilities

Fulfill customers' prescription needs while concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
Administer vaccines as needed.
Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
Ensure pharmacies comply with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
Ensure accuracy tools, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report, are used appropriately.
Maintain records necessary for legal compliance, company and accounting policies, and requested reports.
Maintain a clean, neat work area, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
Maintain pharmacy equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify staff knowledge of their use.
Maintain required signage, such as store hours, counseling and services signs, pharmacist photographs and names, and other requested signs.
Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Establish and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return.
Achieve department sales and profit goals, control quality assurance standards and expenses, and schedule and staff technicians to meet business needs.
