About The Position

Ochsner Rehabilitation Hospital, affiliated with Select Medical, is seeking a per diem pharmacist for its New Orleans, Louisiana inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The hospital provides care for individuals facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas. The pharmacist provides clinical support for hospital pharmacy operations in a fast-paced environment and maintains working knowledge of drug distribution, central pharmacy operations, and IV admixture. Compensation is $68.00 per hour. Per diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. The position includes an extensive orientation program and may offer a potential path to full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Successfully complete all educational requirements mandated for state licensure.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Hold BLS certification if required by the state.

Nice To Haves

• Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy plus an advanced degree.
• Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain working knowledge of pharmaceutical services, including drug distribution systems, central operations, and IV admixture.
• Provide clinical support for the hospital pharmacy function in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain adequate drug supplies in the pharmacy.
• Inform and instruct patients correctly about medications to use after discharge.
• Develop and participate in new employee training and education programs.
• Participate in patient drug therapy monitoring.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
