About The Position

The position fulfills customers’ prescription needs with a focus on accuracy, provides patient counseling and pharmaceutical care, and ensures pharmacy compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA. It maintains pharmacy operations, inventory, records, equipment, security, sanitation, signage, and professional standards in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. The Pharmacist also maintains and develops personal pharmacy knowledge and skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
• Current state pharmacist licensure in good standing.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of retail experience.
• A second language, speaking, reading, and/or writing.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill customers’ prescription needs while concentrating on the accuracy of every prescription filled.
• Provide patient counseling and pharmaceutical care to customers.
• Ensure pharmacies comply with all local, state, and federal laws, including HIPAA.
• Maintain a professional image through personal appearance, conduct, attitude, and the physical condition of the pharmacy; adhere to pharmacy standards and enforce company dress standards.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of the trade area, its customers, and its competition.
• Create a positive pharmacy department image through strong service, friendliness, and cooperation with customers, associates, and outside vendors.
• Monitor stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies and procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, equipment operation, pricing, planograms, returns, budgets, management reports, and product recalls according to company policy.
• Maintain proper records, inventory, and security for scheduled drugs, including controlled substances and narcotics.
• Follow procedures for handling pharmacy products from authorized sources.
• Ensure accuracy tools, including the accuracy scanner and 24-hour post-dispensing audit report, are used appropriately.
• Maintain records necessary for legal compliance, Kroger policies, accounting policies, and requested reports.
• Maintain a clean, neat, professional, sanitary, and organized work area, including counters, shelves, floors, and the customer counter.
• Ensure product returns are handled promptly and according to company policy.
• Maintain equipment, including computers, printers, accuracy scanners, and cash registers, in working condition.
• Maintain and organize policy manuals, reference books, state laws, and required equipment, and verify staff knowledge of their use.
• Maintain required signage, including store hours, counseling and service signs, pharmacists’ photographs and names, and other requested signs.
• Make a strong and continuous effort to broaden personal knowledge and pharmacy skills.
• Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
