PHARMACIST - Full Time - 11 am-7 pm -Union General Hospital
About The Position
As a full-time Pharmacist at Union General Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our diverse patient population. You will be responsible for accurately dispensing prescriptions, providing expert medication counseling, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. This position requires a strong commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development. You will also contribute to the hospital’s pharmacy operations by managing inventory, maintaining accurate records, and supporting clinical initiatives. Your work will directly impact the quality of care delivered, making you an essential member of the healthcare team during the 11 am to 7 pm shift schedule. The pharmacist will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday scheduled. PRN shifts may be available at times. The position is for 32 hours weekly with full-time benefits.
Requirements
- Retail pharmacy experience
- A Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license to practice in the United States.
- Completion of any required internship or residency as mandated by state regulations.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and medication safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical for managing inventory, maintaining compliance, and documenting pharmacy activities accurately.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a hospital, long term care pharmacy or clinical pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management software.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in or lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Additional training or certification in patient safety or medication therapy management.
- Continuous learning and adaptability are vital to stay current with evolving pharmaceutical knowledge and healthcare practices, ultimately improving patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently according to hospital protocols and physician orders.
- Provide detailed medication counseling to patients and healthcare staff, ensuring understanding of proper usage, side effects, and interactions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to review and optimize medication therapies.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and hospital regulations related to pharmacy practice and medication safety.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring medication supplies to prevent shortages or expirations.
- Document all pharmacy activities thoroughly and maintain accurate patient medication records.
- Participate in clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and patient education programs.
- Stay current with new medications, pharmaceutical research, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
