About The Position

Five staff pharmacists are needed for a 24/7 military hospital pharmacy in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient rotations, with a potential 7-on / 7-off schedule. The facility is the 673d Medical Group at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, a 65-bed military and VA joint-venture hospital serving as the primary referral center for Alaska. Pharmacy services operate from the main hospital pharmacy and a satellite pharmacy, utilizing the MHS GENESIS electronic health record.

Requirements

• Pharmacy degree (BS Pharm or PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
• At least one year of professional pharmacist experience after graduation
• Active, full and unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state, territory or the District of Columbia
• U.S. citizenship

• Hospital or health-system experience strongly valued for the inpatient rotation

Responsibilities

• Verify and dispense inpatient and outpatient medication orders across the main and satellite pharmacies
• Review patient profiles at dispensing for dose, interactions, duplications, allergies and age-specific dosing, and intervene with prescribers
• Counsel patients on the appropriate use of their medications
• Consult with physicians, nurses, dietitians and therapists on treatment options
• Compound medications as required and check all products prepared by pharmacy technicians
• Oversee inventory, controlled-substance security and records for scheduled medications
