About The Position

Works cooperatively with other health care team members to provide the pharmacy component of patient care services. Supervises the distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients and provides information to promote the safe and effective use of these agents. Provides pharmacokinetic, antibiotic, and parenteral nutrition consults to physicians on request. Acts as a shift supervisor for Pharmacy Technicians. Performs additional responsibilities as requested. Provides oversight of pharmacy information systems, and implements changes and upgrades to the automated medication dispensing system.

Requirements

• BS in Pharmacy
• Current NYS Pharmacist license (or eligible)
• Familiarity with unit dose systems
• Familiarity with preparation of intravenous admixtures
• Familiarity with parenteral nutrition solutions
• Familiarity with chemotherapy
• Computer experience and knowledge of pharmacokinetic dosing principles
• Knowledge of principles involved in dosage adjustments and monitoring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Experience with Adverse Drug Reaction reporting
• Experience with performance improvement programs
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills
• Computer literacy

Nice To Haves

• PharmD
• One year of previous hospital pharmacy experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel
