About The Position

Hartford Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and one of New England's largest teaching hospitals, is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI). The Pharmacy Department at Hartford Hospital utilizes a decentralized model with pharmacists embedded on medical teams to advise on optimal drug therapy. The department also features an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Residency program, an active Oncology infusion service, and a Retail/Specialty outpatient pharmacy. Pharmacists perform functions related to the control, monitoring, and dispensing of medications for all age groups of patients, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness. They supervise medication preparation by technicians and advise nursing personnel on appropriate medication administration. Pharmacists also promote the rational use of medications by providing drug information and clinical monitoring services to the medical community.

Requirements

Pharm.D. Required
Current CT Pharmacist license or eligible within 45 days of hire.
PGY-1 Pharmacy residency required.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with EPIC systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform functions related to the control, monitoring, and dispensing of medications for all age groups of patients according to department procedures and protocols in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.
Supervise medication preparation by pharmacy technicians.
Advise nursing personnel regarding appropriate medication administration.
Promote the rational use of medications via provision of drug information and clinical monitoring services to members of the medical community.
