About The Position

The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of Georgia to proudly protect lives and promote healthy lifestyles in diverse communities statewide. The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Walton County Health Department. Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Provides services in all programs; immunization, WIC, Family Planning, Women’s Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, TB, etc. to the general public. Assess each patient’s condition, develops a plan of care, provides treatments, educates patients, and makes referrals as appropriate. Provides outreach services and other key preventive health services to the community. The ideal candidate will not only excel in providing high-quality patient care but also possess strong computer skills to effectively manage electronic health records and other digital tools used in modern healthcare. Travel to other health departments or clinics within District 10 may be required. As a Public Health Registered Nurse within the Northeast Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver clinical services across multiple public health programs, including Immunizations, WIC, Family Planning, Women's Health, Diabetes, Hypertension, STD, and Tuberculosis (TB).
  • Assess patients, develop individualized plans of care, administer treatments, and provide patient education.
  • Perform health screenings, immunizations, and other preventive health services.
  • Coordinate referrals to community resources and specialty care providers as appropriate.
  • Accurately document patient encounters and maintain electronic health records in accordance with agency standards.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems and other technology to support quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in community outreach activities and health education initiatives to promote disease prevention and healthy lifestyles.
  • Support public health emergency preparedness and response activities as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and standards of practice.
