The Southeast Health District, WIC program is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the full-time, salaried position of PH Registered Nurse based in Statesboro, Metter, Claxton, Glennville or Reidsville, GA. Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • One year of experience as a registered professional nurse.
  • Public health experience.
  • WIC experience or experience providing nutrition education.
  • Bilingual.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants.
  • Develop and document nutrition care plans for participants as required by state and district nutrition guidelines.
  • Will travel to assigned clinics to provide nutrition assessments, education, and counseling to WIC participants.
  • Serves as a resource on WIC procedures and nutrition to district staff and community partners.
  • Train clinic staff on WIC procedures as needed.
  • Adhere to protocols set in place for vaccine administration and specimen collection, including but not limited to appropriate patient identification, registration, preparation and administration of vaccine, labeling, requisitioning, and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab by courier.
  • This position may provide professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols as needed.
  • Ensure that all safety precautions, HIPAA requirements and data entry are accurate and acknowledged.
  • Administer vaccinations during designated events such as mass vaccination clinics or in the event of a declared emergency.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
