Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures within but not limited to areas of Immunizations, Children's Health, TB/Infectious Disease and other public health programs such as Medbank
  • Participates in community events and provides evidence-based education on various health promotion topics.
  • Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
  • Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately documents patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
  • Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
  • Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
