Henrico Health District is currently seeking a Public Health Nurse Senior to provide non-supervisory leadership and serves as a nursing program expert in one or more nursing services/programs district wide. Develops program goals, objectives, policies and procedures, reports program performance to funding sources and agency staff, serves as primary contact for staff and external inquirers about the program/service, monitors service delivery for compliance to applicable policies and procedures, and promotes the program to increase utilization and public awareness. Performs nursing assessments, may perform lab tests, take measurements, develop, and implement care plans, including the administration of medication and case management. May supervise support staff. Actions Require licensure as a RN by state code. This Public Health (PH) Nurse Senior position has programmatic responsibility for STI prevention and treatment programs within the clinical setting of the health department. This position requires direct patient care including the following: providing comprehensive nursing assessments, taking detailed medical and sexual histories, administering or dispensing medications according to medical standing orders and program protocols, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, and providing patient counseling and education. This position may also require cross-coverage duties in other programs, such as Family Planning, Immunization and Newcomer Health clinics as needed. This role is based out of the Henrico East Office: 1400 North Laburnum Avenue. There will be some travel required to our other main site locations (8600 Dixon Powers Drive and 400 East Cary Street) and to patients’ homes or offsite events as needed. VDH requires all Health-Care Personnel (HCP) to provide documentation of immunization or evidence of immunity to the following: hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella; a one-time dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine regardless of the interval since the last dose of tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine was administered (Td or Tdap boosters shall be received every 10 years); and the current year's seasonal influenza vaccination. "Health Care Personnel" are required to maintain timely compliance with all Employee Health requirements, including but not limited to HCP-required immunizations, health screenings, respiratory protections, and relevant trainings, as mandated by organizational policy and applicable regulatory standards. Maintain active BLS certification. Complete all required program competency trainings.
