Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Residency Program Director (RPD), the PGY1 Pharmacy Resident is responsible for active learning and participation in assigned duties of the Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residency Program. This role involves managing and improving the medication use process, providing evidence-based, patient-centered Medication Therapy Management with multidisciplinary teams, and exercising leadership and practice management skills. The resident will also demonstrate project management skills, provide medication and practice-related education/training, and utilize medical informatics. Additionally, the resident will provide distributive and clinical pharmacy functions when serving as a Clinical Staff Pharmacist, develop supervisory and leadership skills, recruit new residents, and promote the program. Precepting and evaluating Pharmacy Interns, Students, or Technician Students is also a key responsibility. The resident should exhibit a desire and aptitude for teaching clinical problem-solving through instructing, modeling, coaching, and facilitating. They must remain actively engaged in clinical practice, demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, and embody the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
