The C&M Planner reports to the Area Coordination Supervisor and is responsible for coordinating all planning activities in support of the I&M annual work plan and routine capital work, including managing all activities scheduled for C&M field technicians. The Planner develops plans that are barrier-free, ensuring materials and resources are available. They review equipment maintenance/performance history to identify special requirements, identify concurrent maintenance or capital projects for resource efficiencies, and facilitate process improvements for productivity and cost competitiveness. The Planner documents and explains variances in job task work hours versus estimates, monitors work progress, and raises issues to supervisors for improvement opportunities. They may also ensure accurate completion of NERC related documentation. The position works closely with construction resources and Project Management to plan, estimate, and allocate resources for internal maintenance crews, requiring knowledge of construction activities. This position supports the development and implementation of construction and maintenance work plans for annual programs ranging from $150M - $300M, continually managing changes to align with funding requirements and prioritize work. The Transmission Work Management Planner identifies critical work activities, keeps work groups informed of nearing overdue work, and communicates/schedules with various groups (Construction, Project Management, Energy Services, T&D Key Account Reps, Nuclear & Fossil Plants, etc.) to coordinate high-priority work. Planners participate in project planning meetings with Project Management to develop project plans, clarify scope, identify/assign resources, develop work sequence, identify obstacles, determine clearance requirements, and make initial resource assignments. They coordinate clearances with Outage coordination, Grid Management, ECC, and DCC for load issues and assist in resolving/re-sequencing work considering customer and grid sensitivities. Travel to work locations is required for developing work/project requirements, attending meetings, performing job site walk-downs, auditing work packages, and ensuring parts, special tools, and equipment are available.

Requirements

  • Associates degree
  • 5 years related work experience
  • In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 5 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 7 year(s) related work experience.

  • In addition to desired degree, 6 years related work experience.
  • Experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others.
  • Experience and demonstrated computer skills including the ability to use various applications such as Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), work management system (Maximo), Slate scheduling tool, ITOA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing resources (time, tools, & materials) necessary for efficient completion of job.
  • Owning the schedule development from T-12 through T+1 and resolving or managing schedule conflicts.
  • Coordinating / Supporting emergent & routine capital projects supported by C&M.
  • Supporting the outage planning process & submitting outage requests.
  • Supporting safety and environmental program compliance.
  • Providing project updates & real-time project support.
  • Attending and/or facilitating the weekly corrective & compliance calls.
  • Confirming all FAC-008 coordination activities have been coordinated & scheduled.
  • Coordinating bundling opportunities with other planners (Line, Relay, Substation, Construction).
  • Providing scope of work.
  • Providing accurate estimate of hours required to perform work.
  • Providing procedures required to perform work.
  • Identifying special tools required to perform work.
  • Planning for any mobile equipment needs.
  • Planning for any special part needs.
  • Obtaining necessary DOT or Environmental permits.
  • Projecting job durations for scheduling purposes.
  • Providing any sketches, digital pictures or drawings needed.
  • Providing any vendor support information.
  • Securing and ensuring materials are available for appropriate delivery to meet CMI date.
  • Producing construction estimates for durations and man hours and resources required for construction projects.
  • Performing clearance validation review per guidelines.
  • Marking up station / Line map with clearance boundaries.
