About The Position

This position is Hybrid and can be located in any Power Grid Operations (PGO) facility in Midwest, Florida, or the Carolinas where space is available. This position may be filled at either the PGO Contract Manager (Entry Level) or Sr PGO Contract Manager (Career Level) based on experience and qualifications. PGO Contract Manager (Entry Level): Foundational role responsible for supporting contract execution, developing contract knowledge, and managing routine contract responsibilities with guidance. Sr PGO Contract Manager (Career Level): Fully proficient role responsible for independently managing contracts, leading complex issues, and serving as a subject matter expert within the organization.

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Bachelors degree in Life Sciences or Bachelors degree in Engineering or Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Bachelors degree in Other Related Degree or Bachelors degree in Procurement and Contracts Management or Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 4 years related work experience
  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 4 year(s) related work experience listed above, Associates AND 6 year(s) related work experience
  • Bachelors degree in Business or Bachelors degree in Life Sciences or Bachelors degree in Engineering or Bachelors degree in Construction Management or Bachelors degree in Other Related Degree or Bachelors degree in Procurement and Contracts Management or Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 6 years related work experience

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of contract language, Scope & Method of Payment, and enforcement practices
  • Operates independently with a proactive and forward-looking approach to contractor performance and risk
  • Serves as the single point of contact for assigned contracts and regions, providing expert guidance
  • Leads complex issue resolution, including problem identification, extent of condition, and solution development
  • Drives consistency across regions through strong peer collaboration and communication
  • Influences stakeholders and ensures alignment across business units.
  • Demonstrates foundational knowledge of contract terms and contract administration practices
  • Executes assigned responsibilities with guidance while building proficiency
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Serves as point of contact for assigned contracts and supports issue resolution
  • Maintains accountability for contract compliance and contractor performance metrics
  • Escalates complex issues appropriately and collaborates with senior team members
  • Execute contracts and purchase orders in accordance with established policies, procedures, and contract strategies
  • Prepare, review, and manage contract agreements and supporting documentation, ensuring appropriate use of contracts for high- and medium-risk work
  • Support and lead contract lifecycle activities, including RFP development, scope definition, technical evaluations, vendor selection, negotiations, and contract amendments
  • Build and maintain effective relationships between Duke Energy PGO and contractors, serving as a key point of contact for contract-related matters and driving resolution of performance issues
  • Partner with business units, peers, and sourcing to ensure contractor compliance with contract terms, policies, and processes, while promoting consistency across regions and zones
  • Provide clear, cost-effective contractual guidance to stakeholders and support alignment across business units to ensure consistent contract execution
  • Analyze contractor performance metrics and trends; lead performance discussions and provide insights to address risks and improve outcomes
  • Identify, evaluate, and support the qualification of contractors; ensure work is performed under appropriate contract coverage, and scopes clearly define expectations and deliverables
  • Support workforce planning by collaborating with stakeholders to identify current and future contractor needs
  • Lead or support contractor performance management activities, including risk assessments, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and preparation of performance review materials for leadership discussions
  • Collaborate with business units to develop and monitor contractor performance measures; ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements
  • Facilitate discussions between Duke Energy and contractors to address schedule, cost, safety, environmental, and performance concerns
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of contract management processes and strategies across the organization
