About The Position

Iberia Medical Center (IMC) is hiring a full-time Patient Financial Services (PFS) Biller in New Iberia, Louisiana. The role resolves assigned unpaid claims, including commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Replacement, Workers’ Compensation, Hospice, VA, and Medicaid claims, and helps ensure accounts are paid in a timely manner. The biller also provides backup coverage for other billing and follow-up functions and the Credit Balance Clerk.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
2–3 years of previous hospital business office experience related to filing and collecting Commercial and Medicaid claims.

Responsibilities

Resolve assigned unpaid claims listed on Monthly ATB reports and ensure accounts are paid in a timely manner.
Provide backup coverage to Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid Billers for billing or follow-up as needed.
Provide backup coverage to the Credit Balance Clerk as needed.
Resolve weekly any outstanding issues for accounts on Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Commercial remittance advices.
Follow up within 3–5 business days on assigned denials, requests for refiles, and similar items received from insurance companies.
Edit and prepare Medicaid claims for daily filing and ensure claims are transmitted to and received by Medicaid.
Assist with completion of the Medicare Credit Balance quarterly report.
Perform initial billing for claims generated within the inpatient and outpatient Behavioral Health facility.
Assist with Contract Management underpayment appeals and research.
