About The Position

Intertek Caleb Brett is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to join their team in Gonzales, LA. This role involves traveling to client sites to perform cargo inspections and analytical assessments for the oil and gas and chemical commodities markets. Intertek is a global leader in Total Quality Assurance, providing inspection, testing, and certification services worldwide. The Petroleum Inspector will be responsible for visual observation, volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of products in various vessels, as well as attending transfer operations. This position requires communication with terminal, transport, and company personnel, performing equipment calibration checks, and ensuring timely submission of reports and samples. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work environment and verifying/communicating results. This is a 24-hour on-call position on a 2/2/3 schedule.

Requirements

TWIC or ability to acquire and maintain TWIC
Travel between office and terminals, usually within 50 miles of office location
Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required
Must be able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and be able to work in the elements

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma / GED
one year petroleum inspector experience preferred
IFIA certification is a plus

Responsibilities

Perform visual observation, volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of products contained or conveyed in lines, barge tanks, ship tanks, rail tanks, shore tanks, and other vessels
Attend movements involving line and tank transfer or displacement, lightering, and loading and unloading operations
Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned
Perform and document routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks
Organize and coordinate jobs so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted, in a timely manner
Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition
Verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information
