About The Position

Caleb Brett, a part of Intertek, is seeking a Petroleum Inspector in Ferndale, WA. This role involves performing volume and temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting to provide accurate assessments of material quantity and quality. The position requires travel to client sites, with at least 60% of the time spent traveling. Intertek is a Total Quality Assurance Provider to industries worldwide, focusing on quality, safety, and sustainability. The Caleb Brett team specializes in cargo inspection and analytical assessment for the petroleum, mining, minerals, and biofuels industries.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis.
  • Cannot have a fear of heights.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
  • Basic mathematics skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, and driving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting.
  • Ensure customers receive an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of quantity and quality of material.
  • Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett safety procedures.
  • Perform Sampling, gauging, and inventory of shore tanks.
  • Learn Intertek Inspection systems and processes.
  • Provide on the job assistance and receive training from more experienced Inspectors.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned.
  • Monitor the availability of supplies needed for processes and inform the Dispatcher or Coordinator of any needs.
  • Perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure services are rendered and reports/samples are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Verify and communicate results obtained and make entries into appropriate media (print or electronic) for validity and traceability.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
