About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to join their Caleb Brett team in Norfolk, VA. This role offers a career opportunity in the Inspection and Testing business within the ATIC Industry. The Caleb Brett team specializes in cargo inspection and analytical assessment for the petroleum, mining, minerals, and biofuels industries, helping customers optimize cargo returns and resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Ability to work varying shifts, hours, and on-call basis.
  • Cannot have a fear of heights.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
  • Experience with verifying and communicating results and making appropriate entries.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Reliable personal automotive transportation.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Model Intertek’s 10X Energies within the workplace.
  • Adhere to safety practices and policies.
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload with efficient time management.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate.
  • Physical requirements include lifting, walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, and driving.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Volume measurement, temperature measurement and sampling of commodity materials.
  • Experience with Visual inspections on various equipment and conveyances.
  • Experience with Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities.
  • Experience with Performing routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks.
  • IFIA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform measurement testing of clients’ commodities and cargo and report test results.
  • Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett safety procedures.
  • Perform volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials.
  • Conduct visual inspections on various equipment and conveyances.
  • Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities.
  • Perform routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks.
  • Verify and communicate results obtained and make appropriate entries.
  • Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel.
  • Monitor the availability of necessary supplies and report needs.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure timely service and reporting.
  • Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
