About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Petroleum Inspector to join their Caleb Brett team in Romeoville, Illinois. This role offers an opportunity to build a career in the Inspection and Testing business with a global leader in the ATIC industry. Intertek Caleb Brett specializes in cargo inspection and analytical assessment services for the oil and gas, chemical, and other commodities markets, leveraging a global network of laboratories and over 130 years of customer service. The Petroleum Inspector is responsible for performing volume and temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting to ensure accurate assessments of material quantity and quality. This position requires significant travel, at least 75% of the time.

Requirements

  • Basic grasp of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to work in an automated environment.
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and organize workload with efficient time management.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate – up to 75% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience performing petroleum inspections.
  • IFIA certified.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adhere to Caleb Brett safety procedures.
  • Perform volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials in various conveyances (lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, ships).
  • Conduct visual inspections of equipment and conveyances.
  • Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities.
  • Perform routine equipment calibrations, verification, and function checks.
  • Verify and communicate results, making appropriate entries in required media.
  • Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from experienced inspectors.
  • Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel.
  • Monitor and report the need for necessary supplies.
  • Organize and coordinate jobs to ensure timely service delivery and report/sample submission.
  • Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Ensure the validity and traceability of information through accurate data entry.
