About The Position

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking a Petrochemicals Analyst in India. This role will focus on the economic, financial and market aspects of the petrochemical industry in India and assist the team in accelerating a just transition from oil and gas in alignment with climate commitments, with an immediate freeze on the build-up of petrochemical infrastructure. IEEFA is a rapidly-growing NGO/nonprofit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in economics / finance including at least two years of experience related to the petrochemical industry (agrochemicals) of India
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, public policy
  • Comprehensive experience analysing the industry growth’s impact on the economy, financial reporting, stocks, and investment portfolios
  • Proficient understanding of finance, public policy and quantitative analysis.
  • Understanding of policy and regulatory landscape in the petrochemical industry, with a focus on India
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through publications, reports, commentaries and liaising with regulators/ government stakeholders
  • High degree of technological proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and demonstrated ability to learn new software and applications
  • Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable, and profitable economy

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the agrochemicals and textiles sectors within the petrochemical industry
  • Conduct research on banks and financial mechanisms of the petrochemical industry
  • Conduct horizon scanning for petrochemical industry developments by reviewing articles, annual reports, investor presentations, and industry publications related to the industry
  • Prepare forecasts and analysis of trends in the Indian agrochemical and textile sectors within the petrochemical
  • Collects economic data from established datasets and other sources, utilizing data collection and data science protocols
  • Utilizes statistical analysis and mathematical methodologies to develop data
  • Engage with relevant external stakeholders (e.g. regulators, banking institutions, investors, MDB’s) in India and abroad, and represent IEEFA at meetings
  • Collaborate with team members and work independently to research and write original, compelling, and professional reports and commentaries on India’s petrochemical industry
  • Drafting, formatting and proofing reports, submissions, press releases and presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
