Seasonal Pet Playtime Coordinator - Amelia Island
About The Position
Pet Paradise is seeking a Pet Playtime Coordinator to organize and manage daytime play groups at its Amelia Island resort. The role involves interacting with and monitoring dogs in play areas, including the play yard and pool, and using appropriate toys and tools to maintain safe play. Coordinators help keep dogs comfortable, respond to aggressive or unusual behaviors, follow management instructions and dog-handling procedures, and assist with cleaning and play-yard maintenance. The position requires working in varying weather conditions, including heat and humidity, and exposure to pool water. Coordinators must be comfortable around dogs of all sizes and physically able to handle dogs of all sizes and lift up to 60 pounds. The schedule may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times, depending on resort needs. The starting rate is $15.00 per hour, with a $0.50 increase six months after the hire date and an additional $0.50 increase on the annual anniversary date.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
- A genuine passion for working with animals.
- Ability to work in all-weather conditions, including heat and humidity, with exposure to pool water.
- Comfort around dogs of all sizes and physical ability to handle dogs of all sizes and lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, push, and grasp as required by the work.
- Flexibility to meet resort scheduling needs, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
Responsibilities
- Interact with and monitor dogs in play areas, including the play yard and pool, using appropriate toys and tools to maintain safe play.
- Maintain visual observation of dogs at all times and distribute attention and play among all dogs in the group.
- Minimize stress among dogs in the playgroup and handle aggressive or unusual behaviors.
- Control play levels by following management procedures and instructions and using proper dog-handling techniques.
- Assist the team with cleaning and play-yard maintenance.
