Operates auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam, relieving anxiety by translating the examination into layman's terms. Ensures consent form for procedure is obtained if necessary.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures, and protocols. Positions patient for radiographs, arranges immobilization and supportive devices, and adjusts x-ray equipment for correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient's condition according to technical and safety standards, recognizing and reporting abnormalities such as fainting, discoloration, or contrast reactions to the Radiologist. Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information. Monitors patient's condition during the procedure.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records. Utilizes film markers to ensure correct side identification. Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification. Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed and completes correct tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties as required.
