Operates auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation. Prepares patients for exams by relieving pre-testing anxiety and translating examinations into layman's terms based on professional knowledge. Ensures consent forms for procedures are obtained if necessary. Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures, and departmental protocols. Positions patients for radiographs, arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices. Adjusts x-ray equipment and operates controls for correct exposure. Monitors patient's condition in accordance with technical and safety standards, recognizing and promptly reporting motor abnormalities, fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions, etc., to the Radiologist. Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information. Monitors patient's condition during the procedure. Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape. Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records. Utilizes film markers to ensure correct side identification and legibly labels images with the correct date and patient identification. Enters exams onto the daily log sheet as needed and completes correct tracking steps for each examination. Performs related duties as required. This role involves travel.
