About The Position

Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA), a regional farm supply cooperative, is hiring a Pesticide/Fertilizer Applicator at its Agronomy Center in Cortez, Colorado. The role involves preparing and applying fertilizer and pesticide products, maintaining application records, and operating and inspecting applicator equipment. Work during the spring busy season frequently includes extended 12–14-hour shifts. Pay is $18.00 per hour, with the potential for a per-acre bonus.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must have and be able to maintain a current CDL license and be able to drive applicator equipment.
Current pesticide license, or ability to obtain one if hired.
Able to lift 50 pounds and/or 5-gallon cans of liquid frequently during a shift.
Basic math skills to calculate discounts, percentages, and liquid and solid measurements.
Ability to interpret instructions in written and oral form.
Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Nice To Haves

Three years of applicator experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Load and mix fertilizer and pesticide formulas.
Follow and interpret fertilizer and pesticide labels.
Complete applications on time and according to schedule.
Maintain application logs and other necessary records.
Read field maps and use global positioning devices.
Handle hazardous materials properly.
Inspect equipment daily and perform minor repairs as needed.
Work extended hours as needed during the busy season, frequently including 12–14-hour shifts during the spring rush.
